Some Cramer Road landowners weren’t about to let animal welfare officials onto their property after a complaint of animal abuse.
Officers responded to the home after a report that multiple animals were neglected. The deputies sent for the Humane Agent and Dog Warden to investigate and also contacted the property owners.
The pair refused to allow the dog warden or humane agent onto their land and said they would file lawsuits against anyone who tried to go on the property. They also demanded to speak to a captain.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office said it would file for a warrant to go on the property.
Officers Investigate Report of Dogs in Dirty Conditions
A worried woman contacted officers after she dropped some dogs off at a Portsmouth home.
She said the disabled man who lived there didn’t look well taken care of; the house looked dirty, and there were a bunch of dogs inside and dead mice on the sidewalk.
Officers said the man seemed fine and had relatives with him. Officers noted that the outside of the house was in need of a major cleanup but that it didn’t warrant calling code enforcement.
They said the dogs had access to a yard and that there appeared to be no danger to anyone’s health.
