Portsmouth Police officers responding to a tense domestic call ended up dealing with more than they bargained for — including a suspect who urinated in the back of their cruiser.
Just before 4 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that her husband had told her he’d cut himself and didn’t want to live. Dispatchers sent both police and EMS to the scene.
When officers arrived, they found the man under the influence. Medics checked him and determined he did not need hospital treatment. But when officers took him into custody, the situation took a bizarre turn.
According to the report, the man urinated in the back of a Portsmouth Police cruiser while being transported.
The man was charged with disorderly conduct and using weapons while intoxicated. He was booked into the Scioto County Jail and later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where he was released on a $1,000 bond. He’s due back in court on October 23.
Situations like this are part of the job. Domestic calls are some of the most unpredictable emergencies they respond to, often involving both emotional and substance-fueled crises.
