Donald “Larry” Penix passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Larry was born November 8, 1947, to Harold and Pearl Penix in Portsmouth, Ohio. Larry spent his younger life growing up in South Shore, Kentucky and was a graduate of McKell High School.
Larry had a career as a correction officer with the Ohio Prison system for 22 years working at locations in Columbus and Lucasville.
Larry enjoyed talking on CB Radio, playing on his tablet, watching Cowboy shows, and playing with his cat Sweetie and Granddog Sadie.
Besides his parents, Larry is preceded in death by sister Kathy Rister. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Cathy Penix, daughter Kim (Jim) Taylor, son Larry Dale (Holly) Penix, his precious granddaughter Kristina Taylor, niece Carrie (Kris) Smith and lifelong friends Bill (Sandy) Brewer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 15, 2023 2:00pm with visitation 12:00-2:00pm at DW Swick Funeral Home in New Boston Ohio with Pastor Brian Sisler officiating. Interment to follow at Worleys Run Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
