Donald Lee “Sock” Gilliam, 71, of South Shore, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his residence in South Shore, Kentucky. He was born in South Shore, Kentucky, on June 11, 1954, a son of the late Willie and Kathryn Gilliam.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Margaret (McCleese) Gilliam, four brothers: James, Russell, Charles, and Marion; and four sisters: Laura, Ruth, Diane, and Lou.
Donald retired from the Greenup County School system after 39 years of employment as a bus driver, maintenance worker, and janitor. He loved gardening, flea marketing, and especially his chickens.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters: Jennifer (David) Bevis of South Shore, Kentucky; Dawn (Scott) Jaggie of South Shore, Kentucky; and Stacey (Josh) Skaggs of Wheelersburg, Ohio. He is also remembered by his six grandchildren: Matthew and Andrew Bevis; Dylan and Maleah Suttles; Skylan Artressia; and Aryen Skaggs. In addition, he leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Jacob, Hunter, Xander, and Hadley. His siblings include three brothers: Ben (Carol) Gilliam, Mike (Darlene) Gilliam, and Curt “Dewey” (Sue) Gilliam, as well as two sisters: Barbara Wolfe and Doris Madden.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky, with Brother Gary Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Willie Gilliam Cemetery on Route 784 in South Shore, Kentucky.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
