He was born April 14th, 1958 in Ross County, to the late Jacob L. and Vera M. DePugh.
David is survived by his sons Brandon C. (Ashley) DePugh, of Mooresville, NC and Jeremy D. (Ericka) DePugh of Wheelersburg, OH; brothers Stephen J. (Lisa) DePugh, Mark A. (Karla) DePugh and sister, Susan (Scott) Neff, all of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren, Easton, Kaylin, Colton, Jacob, and Jameson DePugh; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1976. Upon completing high school, David attended The Ohio State University, first completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Optics in 1981, and then earning his Doctorate of Optometry in 1983. While at Ohio State, David served as Vice President of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity, and served as a clinical instructor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
Throughout his 39 year career in optometry, David built lasting relationships with his patients and was known for his caring nature, kindness and expertise. In 2016, he broke ground on his new practice, The New Boston Vision Center, laying a strong foundation for his passion to thrive for many years to come. He took immense pride in the business that he owned and nurtured.
David lived life to the fullest and found happiness in the simple pleasures. He loved music and attending live concerts, and he rarely missed a chance to watch his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes play. Some of his favorite moments were spent at his grandchildren’s sporting events, proudly supporting them from the sidelines. David enjoyed several years of go-kart racing with his sons, driving with the top down in his Mercedes-Benz, and the peace that came from camping, boating and spending time outdoors. Whether it was a quiet drive or a lively event, he embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by family, friends, and the things he loved most.
David’s warmth, kindness and passion for life will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
