A neighbor called 911 to report strangers inside a house on Big Spruce Little Bear Road. They said they had called the owner of the unoccupied house to let him know what was happening.
Officers detained a man at the scene. He claimed his grandmother told him he could stay there anytime he wanted to. However, when the property owner arrived, he said the man was not welcome. However, he said he’d give the man until the next day to leave.
However, when the property owner returned the next day, he discovered they were still there and that his property had been damaged.
He did not want the squatters arrested and agreed to give them until 8 pm to leave. However, he wanted to inspect the house. He discovered someone had installed a stove without his permission, and a breaker box was missing.
Officers also noted drug paraphernalia and located a bag of drugs. The squatter admitted the items belonged to him.
A few hours later, the owner called back to report the squatter wasn’t even trying to leave. He requested officers trespass the man. A deputy gave the squatter a ride to a friend’s house.
