Drug addiction is a big issue in our area, and living with an adult child on drugs is a challenge for parents who just want to do the right thing.
Just after 10:30 am, Portsmouth parents contacted police to report their adult son was on drugs and tearing up their home.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the man was pitching a fit over having lost his Suboxone medication. Officers spoke to him while he calmed down and advised him of his medical options. They also warned him not to trash the home.
Another person upset over a medication issue contacted a local mental health facility and threatened to kill herself multiple times.
When medics and officers spoke to her, she said she wasn’t serious about the threats, only stressed out because there was so much paperwork involved with getting her medication. She refused treatment or to go to the hospital.
Officers investigated yet another report of a suicide threat at 4 pm, when callers reported a man posting threats to harm himself on Facebook. When officers arrived at his home, he said he was not serious about himself, just upset that the hospital was not helping him with a medical diagnosis.
