EMS personnel were called to the Scioto County Jail after personnel feared a drug crisis with an inmate.
Just before 10 am, corrections officers reported they had a combative nude male restrained in a chair. They believed packets of drugs had broken inside the man’s stomach.
An ambulance was dispatched to the jail and two deputies followed the squad to the hospital where he was treated and later released back to the jail.
Officers Search for Viaduct Jumper
Portsmouth Police Officers headed out to help a man in crisis after a woman contacted them at 1:30 pm to say her former boyfriend contacted her via Facetime and threatened to jump off the viaduct. She was not sure where he was at the moment.
Police caught up with him at his residence. He told them he did not want to harm himself or anyone else and had no thoughts of self-harm.
Man Tries Taking Samples at the Drug Store
While supermarkets often give out free samples, that’s not the case at drug stores. At 1 pm, Portsmouth Police received a call from Staker’s Drugs on Chillicothe Street. Store employees reported a man in the store had ingested something that he should not have in the store.
Police sent for an ambulance and headed to the store. They caught up with a man who had a lengthy arrest record.
The man was incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail for most of 2021 for parole violations and was released on November 24. It was his sixth arrest for parole violation since 2019. He was last picked up back on July 2 for disorderly conduct and immediately released on a $150 bond.
The store barred the man from the property.
