Woman Counts Pill Stash at Taco Bell
Restaurants in the Gallia Street area seem to be fighting a losing battle against issues with drug users. Just after 9:30 am, Taco Bell employees reported a woman inside the restaurant counting pills and yelling at customers.
Police caught up with the woman near the Save A Lot about 15 minutes later and advised her not to return to the restaurant.
Another Gallia Street business reported someone yelling at people just after 2 pm. Officers headed to the scene, but were unable to find the man in question.
Just after 8 pm, police responded to a report of a man who’d been inside the Speedway bathroom for a very long time and had scattered several items all around the bathroom floor.
Police spoke to the man and then released him and sent him on his way.
Two ODs in Three Minutes
Officers and EMS responded to two separate overdoses in less than three minutes on Tuesday evening.
The first call came in at 8:38 pm. Witnesses reported a woman had overdosed on Charles Street. Portsmouth Ambulance transported her to SOMC for treatment.
At 8:41 pm, callers reported a man on the ground with an overdose in the 1900 block of Kendall. Medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
Man Shoots Up at the Dollar Tree
Officers responded to the Dollar Tree on 5th Street after an employee reported a man in a burnt orange vehicle shooting up in the parking lot. The employee advised she saw the needle in his arm.
An officer spotted the vehicle on 14th Street but had no probable cause to stop.
Inmate Questioned in Stolen Goods Scam
Officers responded to a Thomas Avenue address after a caller reported that packages purchased from their accounts were being shipped to a Portsmouth apartment.
When officers spoke to the resident, she said her daughter was ordering the packages, and that the daughter was in jail.
Officers recovered some of the items listed in the orders and headed to the jail to speak with the daughter. Police spoke with the woman and recovered a stolen iPhone from her.
Drug User Loses Control on 29th Street
Police responded to 29th Street just after 8 pm for a report of a man on drugs causing a disturbance in a home.
Police sent for EMS, and the man agreed to go to the hospital without incident. An ambulance took the troubled man to SOMC.
Heroin Overdose on Morgan Drive
EMS responded to Morgan Drive at 9 pm for an overdose report. Witnesses said a woman was not breathing after a heroin overdose.
The woman began to breathe again and did not require transport to the hospital.
