Drugs Stolen From SOMC Campus By Employee
Police responded to a report of an employee stealing drugs from SOMC’s main campus and an apartment resident finds a drug rig in the laundry room. Here are the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Man Threatens Mom
Just after midnight, police were called to a 17th Street PMHA apartment after a mom told police her adult son threatened to hit her in the face and kick in her bedroom door.
When police spoke with the man, they discovered he was going through some emotional issues and they arranged for an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
Suspicious Activity
- At 1:45 am, a Grant Street witness saw a shirtless man on a bike riding around and shining a flashlight at houses. Police detained the man and discovered he had open warrants. Police took him into custody.
- About ten minutes later, officers checked out a suspicious person in Tracy Park. They advised the man that the park is closed at night.
- At 2 am, police discovered a man sleeping on a bench at 8th and Chillicothe. They advised him on the laws about sleeping outside.
- Just after 6 am, an Edgewood Drive caller reported a man falling over in the street. He then walked up to a porch. An ambulance transported him to SOMC.
Under the Influence
- A caller from Findlay Manor reported finding a man’s wallet and heroin implements in the laundry room at 2:10 am. An officer disposed of the drug-taking implements and impounded the wallet.
- Officers responded to a report of a man passed out in a vehicle at the Atomic Employees Credit Union at 11:51 am. Police discovered the man had an open warrant. They took him into custody and arranged to for the vehicle to be towed.
- Police responded to the main campus of SOMC to take a report about drugs taken by an employee.
Fence Fight
An ongoing feud between two Summit Street neighbors over a fence required police attention once again.
A woman requested police stand by why she removed items her neighbor put on a fence. Officers said she removed the items without incident.
Man Causes Ruckus on Gallia
Witnesses reported a man in shorts attempting to break into People’s Insurance with a took at noon.
The man then went underneath the Young Street Overpass and began yelling and stopping vehicles. He refused medical treatment and said he was just hot and thirsty.
Police took him into custody.
Unwanted Guest
- PHMA maintenance discovered a man in a vacant apartment on Waller Street at 1:23 pm. Police took him into custody.
- Maintenance at Findlay Manor contacted police at 2 pm to file a trespassing report against a man who keeps coming onto the property despite being trespassed.
Fighting with Mom
At 4:07 pm, police responded to Tracy Park after a woman complained her mother was pushing her and cussing her out. Officers advised the pair to break it up and they went their separate ways.
Four minutes later, a Thomas Avenue daughter called police to complain that her mother had taken her cell phone and twisted her arm in the process. The mom explained to the police the girl was grounded and that she had to wrestle the phone away from her. Police advised the girl that she has to follow the rules of the house.
