Earl Emerson Holcomb, 91, of South Portsmouth, KY, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, September 13, 2021.
He was born April 1, 1930, in Columbus, OH a son of the late John Sherman Holcomb and Margaret Shepherd Holcomb. In addition to his parents, Earl was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Carol Stevenson Holcomb; 2 sisters, Wilma Delong and Flora Mae “June” Graves.
He is survived by six children, Deborah Wright, Cathy (Don) Gullett, Valerie (Danny) Meenach, Cristi Berry, Danny (Yvonne) Holcomb and David (Donna) Holcomb. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; Heather Morrison and Bradley (Danica) Wright, Donald Gullett Jr. (Missy), Tracey (Drew) Rapp, Angela (Mark) Defoe, Brooke (Ryan) Wells, Carrie (Andrew) Gullett, Casey (Will) McCall, Hannah Berry, Jackson (Chantelle) Berry, Cassandra (Cory) Hicks, Alex (Kristen) Holcomb, Rachel (Sean) Affareaux, Sarah Holcomb (Patrick Sandefer) and Daniel Holcomb (Stephanie Long); 14 great-grandchildren and one sister Mary Frances White.
Earl was the owner of the former Holcomb Auto Sales in South Shore, KY. His favorite hobby was golf. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his Lord; he dedicated his life to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and helped make a loving and happy home. He was the most patient, humble and kind man who knew how to enjoy life. He made everyone around him feel special and made them better.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18th at 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Cemetery, South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY.
