Emma “Joyce” Forbes, 93 of South Shore, KY., left this world on October 16, 2024 at Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth, OH. She was born November 23, 1930 in Fullerton, KY., a daughter of the late Emmons and Ruth Warnock Ensor.
Joyce became a Christian as a teenager and loved serving the Lord. She was a member of the Sunshine Community Church where she so enjoyed her work in the ministry of music. After piano lessons Joyce began playing music at the age of 14 for churches, weddings, and funerals. Joyce experienced great joy in organizing and playing for groups at church. She was blessed to continue playing music for more than 70 years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Forbes; one grandson, Benjamin Patrick Howerton; one great-grandson, Brandon Levi Howerton; and one sister, Edith Cleary.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Howerton of South Shore, KY., and Jeanie (Mark) Prince of Wheeling WV; three grandchildren, Brad (Stephanie) Howerton of South Portsmouth, KY., Aaron Prince of Wheeling, WV., and Nicole Prince of Boston, MA; four great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Allison, Aimee and Isaac Howerton.
Joyce leaves a void her family cannot fill. We wish to honor her life with a service of remembrance at 1 P.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Sunshine Community Church 16 Tygart Bend Road South Shore, KY., with Brad Howerton officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour. Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., is caring for arrangements.
