Evazinnia “Evi” Goodwin, age 51, of Waverly, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 4, 1970, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late George Peters and Betty Crider Peters.
She was united in marriage on September 10, 2013, to her husband, Douglas E. Goodwin, who survives. Also surviving are her children, T.J. (Ashley) Baker of Waverly, Ohio and Kaylee (Michael) Cheesman of Waverly, Ohio, her grandchildren, Kylie Lennox and Adilee Baker and one grandchild, Baby Poppy, who is on the way, three sisters, Janice (Everett) Neal of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Fonda (Glenn) Marcinko of Waverly, Ohio, and Lavinia (Doug Cook) Peters of Beaver, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evi loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an ordained minister and was very proud to have the pleasure of marrying both her son and her daughter. She was formerly employed as a Correctional Officer at the Chillicothe Correctional Facility and was the first female officer to have a permanent position on death row. She was also a member of numerous other teams at the facility as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and shopping. Evi was loved by many.
Memorial services will be 12:00 P.M. Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Mike Gifford officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
