Fight Breaks Out at Funeral Home & Other Altercations

It would be nice if everyone could just get along, especially during times of grief, but that’s just not the way it works out. Case in point, an altercation broke out at a local funeral home during services.

Right around 7 p.m., officers learned an altercation had broken out right before a funeral service, and there were concerns that more fights might happen after it was finished.

However, officers patrolled the area and did not see any additional fights. They stayed until the mourners left the building and then went back on patrol.

At 7:30 p.m., a Center Street resident claimed her neighbor threw thrash onto her property and began to curse them out before leaving the scene. She said there was a stalking order in place against the neighbors. Officers advised them to file a complaint against the violation of the civil stalking order

Around 3 a.m., a man called PPD officers to the Speedway on Gallia to report that a man was chasing him because he owed him money. He said the guy, who had harassed him over the debt, pulled up to his car and told him to come over to him. When he refused, the man said he would slap him. He did not want to file charges, but did wasn’t the incident document.

Just before 5 a.m., a Gilbert Avenue resident said her estranged husband was in the yard causing a disturbance, and refused to leave. He left before the officers arrived. They reported they’d advised her multiple times to get a temporary restraining order against the man, and she has refused.
