Floyd Fredrick Book, 79, of Stout, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Floyd was born in Portsmouth on January 18, 1946, to the late John Andrew ‘Drew’ and Lillian Tatman Book.
A 1964 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, Floyd was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and had a heart to help people whenever possible.
Floyd owned Bulkwood, Inc, a logging company, for 20 years, and belonged to Sheet Metal Worker Union Locals # 98 and #224. He was skilled at repairs and enjoyed learning how things worked. In addition to building a lovely home for his family, he enjoyed remodeling and building for others. Floyd was faithful to his church, the Church of Christ in Friendship, reading his Bible, and reaching out to those in need.
On July 17, 1965, Floyd married the former Susan Deborah Lindsey at Oldtown United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth. The couple recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Susan Book, he is survived by his three sons, Steve T. (Lori) Book of Stout, Karl L. Book of Sandy Springs, and Chad F. Book of Stout; three siblings, Virginia (Udale) Ware of Dinuba, CA, David E. Book of Moberly, MO, and Michael (Debbie) Book of Friendship; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Matt) Riser, Whitnie (Seth) Tackett, Brad Book and Emmy (Nathan) Galloway; three great-grandchildren, Kayson, Sophie and Kash Tackett; his sister-in-law, Melissa (Dale) Hornickel of Rosemount; many nieces, nephews and their families; and his special dog, Bree.
Floyd was also preceded in death by four brothers, John, Harrison, Dudley and Jimmy Book; and a grandson, Zaccari Todd Book.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Richard McCown, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.
