Garry Arnett Hurless, 83, of Piketon, Ohio passed away Monday, October 6, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Columbus surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 30, 1942 in Lyndon, Ohio to the late Arnett Frederick Hurless and Mary Ellen Lindsay Hurless.
On June 8, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Wilson Hurless who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Melissa Burkitt and husband Dwayne from Marysville, Ohio, Shannon Wyckoff and husband Tab of New London, Ohio and Stephanie Jenkins and husband Cortney of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica, Erica, Dana (Tyler), Casey (Jomar), Corey (Andy), Mackenzie (Drew) and Caden; great-grandchildren, Ryanne, Kodi, Jaxon, Willow, Brentley, Radley and Wesley; sisters, Candy (Dan) Bowser of Florida and Pam (Oren) Leslie of Piketon; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Hurless and a special nephew, Ed Locke.
Garry was an electrical apprentice from 1964 until he graduated in 1969. He bought Midwest Electric in 1981 before retiring after 24 years in 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Scott Judge, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be sent to Elm Grove Church of Christ, 8155 Chenoweth Fork Rd. Piketon, Ohio 45661.
