Gary Eugene McCoy, 75 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, August 4, 2022, at his home. He was born August 12, 1946, in Portsmouth to the late Albert and Irene Journey McCoy. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers Albert and Rodney McCoy.
Gary was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from OSCO and attended Stoney Run Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Rose Mary Mershon McCoy whom he married on August 25, 2001, 2 daughters: Nicky McCoy and Kelly McCoy, a brother Terry McCoy, 3 sisters: Janice Elliott, Phyllis Ferguson, and Karen Davidson, 3 grandchildren Justin, Jacob, and Mason McCoy and 2 great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Caly McCoy.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Craddock Frye officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday starting at 12 Noon.
