George Floyd will be buried today at a funeral service in his childhood hometown of Houston, Texas
The 46-year-old died two weeks ago while being subdued by police in Minneapolis. Today, he will be laid to rest. A six-hour public viewing was held on Monday.
Due to COVID-19, people were required to wear masks. The church that will hold the service for George Floyd has a seating capacity of 2,000. 500 are allowed inside due to restrictions.

Mourners express they are not merely honoring Floyd, but voicing their particular feelings about his killing and issues with police.
“I was a part of some of the protests up in Minnesota. But I’m here primarily today because I want to pay my final respects,” Minnesotan Julian Johnson said. “I also kind of want to experience what’s going on, because this isn’t a small situation, a small story, this is huge. My hope is that the dynamics can be changed in terms of race relations in this country.”

A million-dollar bail has been determined for the ex – Minneapolis police officer accused of Floyd’s death. Derek Chauvin appeared in court by video-link from the maximum-security prison. Video from Floyd’s detainment shows Chauvin pushed his knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes. Chauvin and the other three officers implicated in the case are expected back in court June 29
