Gilbert H. Harris Jr, 80 of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home. He was born February 4, 1941, in Portsmouth to the late Gilbert and Beatrice Fritz Harris Sr.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother George Harris and a sister Doris Kamer.
Gilbert was a musician, the Clay Township Clerk for 26 years and worked at Reinhart Trucking for 27 years, as well as Valley Wholesale, Ohio Asphalt, Boone Coleman Construction, and then retired from the Scioto County Sanitary Engineers Office. He was also a member of the Rosemount Rd. Church and the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene where he was an active treasurer for 39 years, he also earned the Distinguished Service Award and the Layman of the Year Award.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Partlow Harris whom he married August 10, 1963, 2 sons; Keith (Jill) Harris, Steve (Angel) Harris, 2 daughters; Kristi (Tony) Jentzen, Debi (Jason) Ruby, 12 grandchildren; Zach (Krissy) Harris, Luke Harris, Sydney (Michael) Mohnasky, Jacob Harris, Abbie Harris, Bryce Combs, Brady Combs, Cayton Ruby, Chase Ruby, Carter Ruby, and one great-grandchild, Verona Mohnasky.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Wheelersburg with Matt Hancock and JD Emnett officiating and interment in Rosemount Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday starting at 11:00 AM.
The family has requested that everyone wear masks and in lieu of flowers, the family has also requested donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene and SOMC Hospice.
