Gladys Fern Skiles, 80, of West Portsmouth died Friday, May 3, 2024, at SOMC Hospice. She was born on July 17, 1943, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Earl and Ethel (Anderson) Hall. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Edward Skiles; a son, Robert Dale Hale; 2 grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon; a brother, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Anna and Donna.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in West Portsmouth.
Gladys is survived by a son, Jimmy Lee Hale; 3 daughters, Ruth (Mark) Morgan, Rhonda (Todd) Gibson, and Penny (Jeff) Knauff; 7 grandchildren, Misty, Jeremy, Justin, Bethany, Brittany, Ashley, and Brady; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred; 4 sisters, Phyllis, Eunice, Betty, and Barbara; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Noon, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Pastor Mike Davis officiating and interment at Friendship Cemetery to follow. Friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM on Thursday.
