Gregory Melvin Tipton, 59 of Piketon, passed away at Hospice of Hope on Monday, January 16, 2023. He was born on February 27, 1963, in Dayton to the late Melvin Tipton and Tamita “Ciss” Hopkins Tipton.
Surviving are his children; Seth Tipton of Piketon, Heath (Haley) Tipton of Piketon and Brooke (Dillon) Barnes of Irvine, Kentucky; grandchildren, Willow Barnes, Olivia Tipton, Piper Jo Barnes and Josiah Tipton; siblings, Tangela Tipton of Irvine, Kentucky, Angela Tipton of Irvine, Kentucky, Christopher Tipton of Peebles, Sherry Strunk of Scott, Tennessee and Ronnie Phillips of Laurelville; four nieces and two nephews and a very dear friend and partner Melissa Adams who was a true blessing to him and his family, especially during the past year.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by one nephew, Lucas Scott.
Greg was a former math teacher and principal for Northwest Local Schools. He was a member of Vanguard Ministries and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He enjoyed making people laugh and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren eating ice cream. In October 2021, Greg rededicated his life to the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Northwest Middle School Gymnasium from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm. A private funeral ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. Greg being a true educator at heart, made a request prior to his passing for anyone who may be considering purchasing flowers for his service that they instead make a donation to Northwest Local Schools in the form of school supplies, such as backpacks, pencils, crayons, or paper.
