A dispute between two women over the death of a cow led to a report of a gun being pulled.
A woman contacted deputies to say she was picking up her kids from her ex-husband’s home when a neighbor began to cuss at her. She said she yelled back and called the woman a cow murderer because she’d shot her cow a few months earlier.
She said the woman pulled into her driveway across the street, got out of her car with a gun, pointed it at her, and said this was the gun she shot her cow with. Since her young daughter was beside her during the incident, she wanted to press charges against the neighbor.
Officers went to the neighbor’s house and spoke to the woman. She said the other woman started it because she was angry that she’d shot her cow. She claimed she’d never brandished a firearm but had taken her handgun out of her car and taken it into the house.
Lawrence County deputies explained that the neighbor wanted to press charges and took the woman into custody without incident.
