Back-to-back calls about gunshots in Lucasville this week sent deputies to investigate, though no arrests were made.
The first call came late in the evening when a resident reported hearing several shots and accused his neighbor of pulling the trigger. The caller said the two men had a history of disputes, including one over a driveway, and claimed the neighbor made rude gestures toward him. Deputies spoke with both parties, documented the complaint, and filed a report.
Two days later, another Lucasville resident reported hearing more than 15 gunshots in the area. The caller said a car was driving past repeatedly, and each time, gunfire followed. Multiple deputies patrolled the area, but nothing suspicious was found before officers were pulled to respond to a higher-priority incident.
What to Do If You Hear Gunfire
Deputies say the Lucasville calls are reminders of how critical it is for residents to report suspected gunfire right away. Even when no evidence is found, every call helps law enforcement track potential trouble spots and respond faster if violence does occur.
Officials recommend:
Call 911 immediately if you hear what you believe are gunshots. Provide as much detail as possible about location, direction, and any vehicles seen.
Do not investigate yourself. Stay inside or in a safe location until officers arrive.
Document what you see. Videos, photos, or notes about suspicious activity can help deputies build cases later.
