Harold Copas Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 6, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 1, 1946, in West Union, Ohio, Harold lived a life filled with hard work, laughter, and cherished memories with his family, where he called Wheelersburg, Ohio his home.
Harold proudly graduated from Jefferson High School in Blue Creek and spent his career as a car salesman, first making a name for himself at Oberlings and Glockner before retiring from Rosemount Financial Services, where he opened multiple locations in Jackson, Chesapeake, and Chillicothe. Earlier in his working life, Harold delivered goods for two pop distribution companies.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Harold was a lively and enthusiastic flea market vendor, sharing his love for unique items at Ghost in the Attic and Unique Antiques.
Harold was saved by the grace of our Lord and became a member of Rubyville Community Church later in his life. He was also member of the Moose, Eagles, and the Sons of the American Legion.
Sports were a significant part of Harold’s life. He had a deep appreciation for all athletic pursuits, but his heart truly belonged to NASCAR. A devoted fan of the sport, he admired the legendary Dale Earnhardt, often sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Copas, Sr. and Maxine (Nee Grooms) Copas Irwin, one brother, Mickey Copas, and one sister, Diane Copas.
Harold is survived by his wife, Loretta Sue (Nee Adams) Halcomb Copas, who has been his partner in life’s journey for thirty-two years. He leaves behind three sons: Randall (Mindy) Copas of Batavia, Randy (Lisa) Halcomb of West Portsmouth, and Scott Copas of Wheelersburg; daughter Laura Halcomb of Portsmouth; five granddaughters: Ashley Copas, Abigail Halcomb Spencer, Alexis Copas, Allison Copas, and Kira Copas; one grandson, Ethan Copas.
Funeral services for Harold will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Family and friends may gather to celebrate his life from 12:00 (NOON) – 1:00 PM, all at
FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
Burial will take place following the service in Lucasville Cemetery.
