Harry W. Ketter, 89, of West Portsmouth, passed away September 6, 2025, at SOMC Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1936, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to the late Harry W. Ketter and Florine (Birchfield) Grumme.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Ida Belle Ketter; a daughter, Terri Lynn Ketter; and a brother, Madison Ketter.
Harry retired from the City of Punta Gorda, Florida, where he worked as an operator of the waste management system. Outside of his work, he found joy in every part of being a family man. He loved all five generations of his family and was active in their lives—taking them camping, boating, hunting, and fishing, cheering them on at sporting events, and making countless memories together. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles, and was always eager to fix things with his own hands, constantly learning how to build or repair something new.
He is survived by a son, Bucky Ketter; three daughters, Kim Greenhill (Jim Auger), Becky (Larry) Jenkins, and Tina (Rick) Wade; seven grandchildren, Bucky Ketter Jr., Kayde Ketter, Samantha Ketter, Caleb Ketter, Jennifer Pollitt, Jessica Piccolo, and Shane Wade; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Steve Ford, and his dog, Sammy, whom Harry dearly loved to spoil.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pete Schaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home starting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made in Harry’s memory to SOMC Hospice.
