Harvey A. Ruel passed away Friday June 6, 2025, at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born January 22, 1950 along with his twin sister, Barbara.
Harvey was a “Gentle Soul”. He was kind to everyone and everyone said he had the “Nicest manners”. He was a “Faithful brother” to his siblings: one brother, Hughie Kuel of Portsmouth, and two sisters Alison Barrett and Barbara Schmaler of Hendersonville, North Carolina. He loved his nieces: Amy and Jennifer, and great niece Addy, all of North Carolina. Harvey made frequent trips to North Carolina visit his sister and his brother in law, Barbara and Glenn Schmaler, who he enjoyed going out with for coffee and donuts for breakfast.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hugh and Lorraine (Nee Kinder) Ruel.
Harvey was an avid sports fan and watched all the games with his brother Hughie. He frequently had morning coffee at Burger King with his buddies and met his Army buddy, Lloyd for dinner quite often.
He was a United States Army Veteran who served our country in Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal. Harvey retired as a Chemical Operator and Instrument Mechanic from USEC. He had an Associates Degree in Electro Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held for Harvey on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Portsmouth, OH.
