We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our Mom and Mamaw, Hazel Louise Hannah Dowdy, 84 of South Shore, KY., on July 23, 2023, at her home. She was born February 21, 1939, in Maloneton, KY., a daughter of the late Taft and Erma Fetters Hannah.
Mom’s last sigh with us immediately became her first breath in Heaven as she was united with JESUS and all those who departed before her. There are no words to express how much she will be missed by each one of us. Mom lived a long and happy life and never left the Hannah Farm that she cherished with all her heart. She held an attachment for politics and was ready to discuss with anyone who would engage in the topic.
Mom adored Hallmark Movies and treasured Elvis Presley. Her greatest joy on this side of eternity was raising her six children. Then arrived her devotion of 12 grandchildren and a few she helped raise. Her last endearment was the coming of 12 great-grandchildren that always brought the biggest smile to her beautiful face.
Preceded in death along with her parents are her husband Jim Bob Dowdy; one daughter, Nickie Rae Sublett; one grandson, Brett Wilburn; two brothers, Kenny and Wayne Hannah and one sister, Jo Langley.
Surviving are three sons, Jim (Shirley) Dowdy, Jay (Tonya) Dowdy and Brett (Rhanell) Dowdy; one son-in-law, Tim (Laura) Sublett; two daughters, Tammy (Kenny) Wilburn and Kim (Rick) Robbins; one brother Charles Hannah; one brother-in-law, Jim Langley and several other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Kenny Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery In South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
The family would like to thank SOMC and Ashland Community Hospice for the compassionate care of our mother, Hazel.
