An intense high-speed chase involving a red Harley Davidson motorcycle reached speeds of up to 125 mph. Just before 8 pm on Monday evening, two motorcycles disrupted traffic and “break-checked” other drivers just prior to the pursuit.
Two New Boston Police officers responded swiftly to the complaint and attempted to pull over the motorcycles. While one rider complied with the officers’ signal to stop, the other chose to flee, initiating the high-speed pursuit.
According to the officers involved, the fleeing motorcycle headed eastbound on Route 52, pushing the speedometer to dangerous levels as it weaved through traffic to the far eastern part of the county.
The motorcycle finally took the County Rd 1 exit into Franklin Furnace, where it came to a stop near Giovanni’s restaurant.

The rider who complied with the officers was identified as Chris Latchford of Lucasville, who was found to possess only a motorcycle permit. According to the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 4507.06, motorcycle permit holders are subject to various restrictions, including not being allowed to carry passengers and riding only during daylight hours.
The other motorcyclist, who recklessly evaded authorities, remains unidentified at this time. One of the motorcycles involved in the incident was impounded, while the other was not.
There were no reports of transports to the Scioto County Jail following this incident. Apparently, they let the evader simply walk away. (possibly with paperwork for a summons)
Despite the high-speed pursuit and potential dangers, no reports of injuries to the public, suspects, or law enforcement have been reported.
