We’ve been covering the recent auto break-in spree targeting vehicles all over town, but the hilltop area is hit especially hard. We even told you about claims that individuals were paid to break into the vehicles.
Now, there are two more reports of overnight break-ins. An 18th Street resident said someone broke into their vehicle and made off with a wallet full of cards and IDs as well as a backpack containing a computer for school.
Another resident reported that multiple cars were hit on High Street and reported finding an empty purse and backpack in a yard.
Also hit by the car bandits was a vehicle parked at HopeSource on 6th Street. And cars aren’t the only target – around 2 a.m., a man reported someone attempting to break in the side door of his home on Vinton Avenue. However, the burglar disappeared before police arrived.
Around 11:30 am, officers received a report that someone busted out a car window at 12th and Hutchins Streets. Police took information for a report.
Remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle every evening and don’t forget to lock the car doors.
