Homeless Crisis- Man Calls Ambulance Because He’s Cold
The area’s homelessness epidemic keeps first responders busy. Just after midnight EMS personnel responded to a man at 2nd and Washington Streets who said he needed to go to the hospital.
When medics arrived on the scene, they learned he did not have a medical emergency. Instead, he was homeless and just wanted to get out of the cold.
PPD officers discovered the man had enough money to pay for a hotel room, so they dropped him off at the Four Keys Inn.
They were back at the Four Keys Inn about an hour later for a report of a man causing a problem in the lobby. The hotel issued a refund to the man and asked him to leave the property. Officers gave him a warning to leave, and he complied.
Officers refereed another issue involving homeless individuals just before midnight. A homeless woman with a long history of public disturbance arrests contacted police to report that a woman had taken her wagon. She told officers the woman was currently staying in a basement on Mabert Road.
An officer knocked on the door at the address, but no one answered. The homeless woman left the area before officers could finish a report.
