Officers responded to a bizarre situation on Robinson Avenue; witnesses said a man was impersonating an officer.
Around 9 a.m., a caller said a man with a full beard wearing a ball cap claimed to be a PPD officer and gave a fake name.
A few minutes later the house next door said the same man tried to come in through a window of their house. The resident confronted the man, who took off and was now hiding behind the neighbor’s house.
When officers caught up with the man, he admitted trying to get into a house, but denied impersonating a police officer. He said he was homeless and hoped to find an abandoned house to stay in.
As the man had no open warrants, officers cautioned him and let him go.
