Portsmouth Police had their hands full handling the area’s homeless crisis. Just after 9 am, an employee of a local daycare contacted 9-1-1 to report that a man had set up camp at the gate to the facility’s playground. They requested that officers tell the man to leave.
Police spoke to him and he began to move his belongings. However, he had so much there, officers noted it would take at least two trips.
A Campbell Avenue caller complained to police about homeless people going in and out of an abandoned home. When officers arrived, they didn’t see anyone there.
The 8th Street Homeless Shelter contacted police when individuals who’d threatened to shoot up and burn down the shelter a few days ago returned and parked their vehicles out front. Police spoke to them and warned them to stay off the property.
