Howard ‘Garry’ Osborn born October 1, 1942 passed away unexpectedly February 28, 2025 at his home. Preceded in death by his parents Howard and Blodwin Osborn, brother and sister in-law Jerry and Phyllis Osborn and nephew Eric Bruce Osborn.
He is survived by his daughter Julie (Randy) Samlow, his son Drew (Paula) Osborn and their mother Laura Osborn, grandchildren Max, Mason, Mccoy, Will and Ava, special niece Lavita (Steve) Kempf.
A graduate of South Webster High School in the Class of 1960, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Marshall University, Garry believed in the power of being educated. He spent over 42 years in the education profession, beginning his career in Jackson City Schools and worked over 30 years in Portsmouth City Schools concluding his career as Superintendent. After retirement, Garry continued on working with federal programs through Shawnee State University helping students who were less fortunate. He loved solving problems and figuring out how things worked – constantly tinkering; there was nothing he could not repair. Garry valued family and friendship more than anything and sacrificed many hours helping friends, family and neighbors. There is no doubt that he drove quickly to heaven in his favorite red corvette.
Friends and family are invited to the celebration of Garry’s life on March 23rd from 1-3 p.m. at Allard’s Excavation in South Webster, OH.
