Medics responding to a home to treat an elderly woman for a suspected stroke found themselves with another problem: they were smack in the middle of a domestic violence situation.
When medics arrived on the scene, the woman’s husband began making threats to shoot the woman and burn down the South Point, Ohio, house.
Medics called in Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies for assistance. They said family members wanted the elderly woman checked out, but she said she didn’t want to go to the hospital and signed a refusal. Her husband then became aggressive and said he was going to kill her. He told EMTs she was “money hungry” and needed to be “checked out in the head.”
When a deputy questioned him about the statements, he admitted to saying it. The wife confirmed he had threatened her and had even pointed a gun at her.
Officers took him into custody and the man’s son-in-law said he would remove all weapons from the home.
