Green EMS expressed frustration with a local rehab they feel has been calling them for non-emergency situations.
Just after 8 pm, they were summoned to the facility for a seizure, only to learn that the patient hadn’t had a seizure and had just arrived at the treatment center. They said it was their policy to have every patient medically cleared before accepting them and that there was no medical emergency.
EMS said this wasn’t the first time they’d been called for a non-emergency and that the facility was also calling them to transport patients for psychiatric evaluations. Given the ambulance shortage that is gripping the county, this could mean those in need of critical care might have to wait.
EMS told dispatch they felt this was an abuse of 9-1-1 and planned to take the matter up with officials to see if anything could be done about it.
