With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Jai (Jeanette) Sturgill who entered peacefully into eternal rest and the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
She was born December 21, 1942 to the late Luther and Ollidene Caudill. Jai was preceded in death by her sister Jewell (Caudill) Picco, brother Luther (Cokie) Caudill II, her daughter Kelly Sullens Clark and grandson Heath Sullens.
She is lovingly survived by her sons, Dan (Sara) Haney and Dave (AJ Brown) Haney; her daughter, Lisa (Tim) Brown; along with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also lovingly remembered by her RJ’s family and Christ Community Church family, all of whom she cherished deeply and prayed for daily. She shared a deep and unconditional bond with her beloved dogs, Lady and Tramp, who were truly the loves of her life and brought her constant comfort, companionship, and joy. While she is no longer with us in body, her love, faith, and devotion to God will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
A special mention is extended to her longtime barbershop partner, Ron “fat boy” (Donna) Blankenship, who stood beside her for many years and shared not only her work, but her dedication to the community they served.
For over 40 years, Jai owned and operated RJ’s barbershop with Ron by her side every day which became far more than a place for haircuts. It was a gathering place, a listening ear, a source of wisdom, and a cornerstone of the community. Generations passed through her chair, and each left knowing they were seen, valued, and cared for.
A woman of unwavering faith, Jai lived her life devoted to God, family, and service to others. Her faith guided every step she took, and she often shared God’s love through kindness, encouragement, and prayer. She trusted fully in His promises and now rejoices in the certainty of eternal life.
Jai leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and compassion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing she is home, healed, and at peace with her Heavenly Father.
