James “Dutch” W. Dutcher, 64, of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born July 15, 1960 in Waverly, son of the late Jerry and Madalyn Keechle Dutcher. On November 24, 1979 he was united in marriage to Donna Sword Dutcher who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda (Kent Shanks) Dutcher of Waverly and Jami (Jason) Morton also of Waverly; two grandsons, Haydn’ Shanks (Abby Ray) and Jamison Morton (Kenna Conley); a brother, John (Ginny) Dutcher of Waverly; an aunt, Juanita Bryant of Waverly and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Gladys Sword of Waverly; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Paula Anderson, sister-in-law, Vickie Fielder, brother and sister in law, Tracey and Amee Sword; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey “J.W.” Dutcher.
Jim was retired from USEC as a firefighter and was also a volunteer firefighter for the Waverly Fire Department. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play ball. On Friday nights in the fall you would see him in the stands at their football games. During basketball season he would be watching them from the bleachers. And come spring he would be at their baseball games watching from behind home plate or from the hill overlooking the baseball field.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Steve Nibert officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery in Waverly. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
