Janet Irene (Polley) Bartee, 86, of Quincy, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Portsmouth Health and Rehab in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born on July 15, 1939, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to the late Omer and Irene Stout Polley.
Janet married James Bartee on May 12, 1962. Their beautiful marriage was blessed with two children: Randall Wayne and Timothy Arthur. James preceded her in death on April 18, 2006. They were married for 44 years at the time of his passing.
In addition to James and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall Wayne, three sisters: Thelma Crawford, Dorothy Crawford, and Catherine McKinney; and two brothers: Gene Polley and Clarence Polley.
Janet is survived by her son, Timothy Bartee, and his wife, Elyse, who reside in Georgetown, Kentucky. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lori Bartee, of Chesapeake, Virginia, as well as five grandchildren: Hannah and Alex Bartee of Georgetown, Kentucky; Zach and Bunny Bartee of Vanceburg, Kentucky; Julie Bartee of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Seth Bartee of Chesapeake, Virginia. Additionally, she is survived by one sister, Betty Wills, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and one brother, Donald Polley, of Tollesboro, Kentucky. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss her.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Bartee, Jack Lawhun, and Jackie Ray Lawhun
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Morton-Hunt Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky. Kevin Yeager will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Greene Cemetery in St. Paul, Kentucky, at a later date. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 PM until the service begins.
