Janet Ruth Workman, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born on June 6, 1937, on Houston Hollow Road in Scioto County, the daughter of the late Elmer and Virginia Marie Winters Rigley.
Janet was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, where she was a choir member. While she was primarily a homemaker and traveling companion of her beloved late husband, Acie, she had worked at the former William’s Manufacturing Company. Janet also enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds.
On December 9, 1978, she married Acie Junior Workman in West Portsmouth. The couple had been married for 42 years at the time of Acie’s passing on November 4, 2021.
Janet is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as her church family.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Glen, and Ralph Rigley, and five sisters, Doris Steiner, Shirley Setser, Marjorie Payton, Adelaide “Polly” Sparks, and Mary Rigley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Kenny Estep officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
