Jerry A. Mann, 79
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry “Grizz” Mann. Jerry passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 79, on March 3, 2025. Jerry A. Mann was born on March 23, 1945 and lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge after his time in service. His commitment to his country was a testament to his strong sense of duty and patriotism.
Jerry was an adamant fan of The Ohio State University and NASCAR, and he spent countless hours enjoying these passions. He also had a deep love for his horses and farm, where he spent much of his time working and caring for his land and animals, along with teaching children in the 4-H. His hard work, dedication, and love for his family and community were evident in everything he did.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Sandy Mann, daughters Brandi Barton (Rick Good), Ashley Green (Heath), Debby Mann, Ange Mann, sons; Steven Nott and Kevin Knox. He leaves behind grandchildren Michael Rodgers (Kaitlyn), Blake Barton (Taylor Huffman), Reagan Green, Ayden Nott, as well as great-grandchildren Danyele and Jayme Barton. He leaves behind his sisters Joysen Mann Owens and Karen Mann, as well as his brother Donald A. Mann, Jr (Valerie). He leaves behind numerous nieces, Jerri Kay Mann, Vanessa Mann, Janessa Mann, Andrea Brambila (Lalo), nephews, Austin Mann, Terry Keith Mann (Tammy), Timmy Owens (Katelyn), Jimmy Owens (Melissa), and a multitude of extended family and friends, including his long-time, dear friends Joe Fry, John Barton, Stevie Collins, Larry Scott, Cricket Shields, Tim Penley, Finley Stone and his favorite NASCAR fan, Aunt Linda Mojsl, as well as his cherished 4-H kids, especially his “Lil Bit” Lillian Stepp. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Donald A. Mann, Sr. and Dixie Horn Mann, sisters Patty Murphy and Kenda Mann, his brother Terry Mann (Laurie) and nephew Bobby Murphy (Sandy).
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, loyalty, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service to honor Jerry’s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Roger W Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jimmy Owens officiating.
