Jesse Lee Potter, 26, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on February 14, 2000, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Jesse was the son of Lena R. Daniels Potter and the late Gary E. Potter.
He was a 2018 graduate of Wheelersburg Local Schools and Scioto County Career Technical Center in Lucasville, OH. Jesse was a six-year veteran of the United States Army, serving as a 19D Cavalry Scout. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, and completed a tour of duty in the Republic of South Korea. After his service in the Army, Jesse worked as a guard at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, Ohio.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Morris Edward Potter, and his maternal grandparents, Macie “Mackado” Daniels and Marie Daniels.
Left behind to cherish his memory, along with his mother, are his brother, Gary Potter Jr., and four sisters: Selena (Cody) Gallion, Amy Potter Bryan, Brandy Branham, and Brooke Potter France. He is also remembered by his paternal grandmother, Lois F. Collier-Potter, and his niece, Macie Marie Gallion. Additionally, he is cherished by the soldiers and guards with whom he served, along with family and friends who will miss him deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky, with COL John Callihan officiating. Burial will follow, accompanied by military honors, and will take place at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on the day of the funeral from 11:00 AM until the service begins.
