John Alan Chesmar, 77, went home to his Lord and Savior early in the morning on Saturday, May 17, after a long battle with cancer.
John was born on September 26, 1947, in Barberton, Ohio, to the late John and Marion Chesmar. He graduated high school in 1965 from Barberton High School in Barberton, Ohio. John became a precision welder and excelled in his career for over thirty years.
John is survived by the love of his life, Theresa Chesmar, who he married on August 2, 2003; a daughter, Jennifer Rowland; a stepdaughter, Terra Niederoest and husband, Beat; a stepson, Nathan Booth and wife, Erica; a sister, Carol Frey and husband, Wilbur; a brother, Larry Chesmar and wife, Linda. He had seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Cindy Parker. John had an enormous love for his family and was grateful for all the time he had with them. He loved his three dogs, Tia, Zoe, and Mocha, who sat in his lap every day.
John was an active member of Cornerstone Nazarene in Wheelersburg, Ohio. He was baptized there and enjoyed volunteering in the Celebrate Recovery ministry. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time outdoors. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his wife, Theresa. He was completely devoted to her and loved her with all his heart.
Our family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster, followed by a Memorial Service at 7 pm.
