A man took off from officers after they tried to pull him over while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle at 2:30 am.
When officers arrived at the Proctorville apartment complex, the man took off without lights at a high rate of speed. When deputies tried to block him off, he reversed and went around them.
He took off down County Road 107, turned into the parking lot of Fairland Middle School, got back out onto County Road, and turned onto County Road 775 and then to Irene Road.
Despite the lights and sirens behind him, the man chose not to stop and continued speeding while running red lights and stop signs. Ohio State Troopers joined in the chase and deployed stop sticks on County Road 12.
The driver hit them but kept going, ignoring traffic safety by speeding and blowing through lights. A deputy rammed his car to slow him down. The driver stopped, jumped out, and took off into a field on State Route 775.
Officers deployed K9 Dexter to stop the man. Police took Johnny Lewis of Proctorville into custody and booked him into the Lawrence County Jail.
