Kelly J. Shy, 66 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at SOMC Hospice. He was born November 16, 1955, in Portsmouth to the late Louis J. and Juanita Entler Shy.
Kelly was a 1974 graduate of Portsmouth West High School where he excelled in basketball. After graduation, he attended the University of Alabama to play basketball. Kelly formerly helped out with the Portsmouth West High School boys and girls basketball teams. He was a member of Laborers Local 83. Kelly loved to golf with his buddies in the Risner group and always look forward to Saturday night Ping Pong. Kelly’s favorite saying was “Let me know if you need any help.”
Kelly is survived by his wife Carol Furtaw Shy, whom he married on March 10, 1984, 3 sons: Cody (Jamie) Shy, Tim (Missy) Hall, and Michael Hall, a daughter Lori McNeil (Adam Cox), a brother Randy (Connie) Shy, 13 grandchildren: Ashton, Jaxon, Mykal, Rowan, Owen, Ally, Wyatt, Ava, Baylee, Jake, Cheyenne, Molly and Cole, a special cousin Kima Lauder, best friend Daryl Brickey along with a host of other friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Phillips officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
