Surrounded by his loving family, Kevin Lee Haywood, 55, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, departed this life on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on October 13, 1967, in Portsmouth, Ohio to parents Larry and Linda Craig Haywood of Wheelersburg. Kevin was a member of Unity Full Gospel Church in New Boston, Ohio where he previously ran the sound system.
Kevin was a skilled carpenter with a widespread knowledge of various construction techniques. His hobbies were camping, fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers, and caring for Peanut, his long-haired Chihuahua.
Kevin had an exceptional love and commitment to his four children and six grandchildren. His true character is revealed in the way that he became a loving father to his first three children and raised them as his own.
Kevin loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren, and he supported their participation in school and sports activities. Including all of them in his special interests and hobbies strengthened their relationship and created memories that will be cherished.
Kevin was preceded in death by his sister, Tonya Haywood, his father-in-law, Stephen Michael Flinders, and his nephew, William (Billy) Haywood.
In addition to his parents, those remaining to mourn his passing are his loving wife, whom he married on December 13, 1991, Stephanie Flinders Haywood of Wheelersburg; son Zachary (Regina) Flinders of Wheelersburg; daughter Kirby Phipps of New Boston; son Kyle Phipps of Wheelersburg; and son Corey Haywood of Portsmouth; grandchildren: Mercedes Tackett, Portia Hurst, Hunter Haywood, Asher Luster, Emryn Brown, and Liam Haywood; brothers: Dean (Kelley) Haywood of Wheelersburg and Russell (Melody) Haywood of Wheelersburg; mother-in-law Norma Russell Flinders of Franklin Furnace; brothers-in-law: Chad (Shellie) Flinders of McDermott and Christopher (Tanya Lopez) Flinders of Douglasville, Georgia; nieces: April Haywood, McKinley Flinders, and Brooklyn Crabtree; and nephews: Matthew Haywood and Mason Flinders.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.
The family will honor his life with a private memorial observance.
