Three young girls, home alone and terrified, had to call Portsmouth Police for help after receiving disturbing threats from another girl and her friends.
The 16, 13, and 11-year-old reported that the angry girl—who had recently moved to Kentucky after being kicked out—was now threatening to come to their house, stab them, and cut their throats!
The frightened girls immediately contacted their parents, who rushed home while police advised them to lock the doors and call 911 if the threats continued.
What Should Kids Do If They Feel Threatened?
No one—especially children—should ever feel unsafe in their own home. Here’s what to do if someone threatens you:
🔹 Tell an Adult IMMEDIATELY – Whether it’s a parent, teacher, or trusted adult, never keep threats a secret.
🔹 Call 911 If You Feel Unsafe – If someone is threatening you, police need to know—especially if they mention weapons or physical harm.
🔹 Don’t Engage with the Threatener – Arguing or responding can make things worse. Block their number and let adults handle it.
🔹 Lock Up & Stay Inside – If you’re home alone and scared, lock all doors and windows, don’t answer the door, and wait for help.
🔹 Trust Your Gut – If a situation feels wrong, take it seriously and get help right away.
These quick-thinking Portsmouth kids did the right thing—but no child should have to live in fear
