Deputies were called in to investigate a report of children living in a filthy house where adults were engaged in drug trafficking and one illegally possessed guns.
Following the report, officers headed to the children’s school to speak with them with their counselor. The kids expressed concern for their own safety. Police confirmed a man on parole from Kentucky was living in the home. CPS was also contacted, and they opened a case.
Officers and CPS workers headed to the South Point home and noted that there was a lot of junk piled around it, and animals were running around everywhere. At first, no one answered the door, but CPS called the mom, and she agreed to come out.
After the woman agreed to allow them inside, officers noted that the house was cluttered, very dirty, and there were what police described as a “multitude” of animals running around the place.
When police spoke to the man, he admitted he was on parole and not allowed to possess firearms. He also told officers there were loaded weapons in the drawer of his bedside table, but those weapons belonged to the woman who lived there and they’d just forgotten to move them out of his room.
Officers unloaded the weapons and then confiscated them pending the outcome of the investigation. Police and CPS workers took information for a report.
