A terrifying domestic call involving a knife and four frightened children sent officers rushing to the Streich Apartments only to be followed just 10 minutes later by another violent incident across town.
“Put the Knife Down!”
Police were called to the Streich Apartments around 9:30 a.m. after a neighbor reported a man forcing his way into an apartment where four children were inside.
As officers were en route, the situation escalated.
The caller told dispatch they could hear a woman yelling at a man to put the knife down, adding that the male was holding the female hostage inside the apartment.
Officers arrived quickly and took Travis Lemaster into custody without further incident.
Lemaster was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of:
- Drug possession
- Probation violation
No injuries to the children were reported, but police say the situation was volatile and frightening for everyone involved.
Another Call—Another Arrest
Barely 10 minutes later, officers were dispatched again—this time to a local group home, where a juvenile had reportedly assaulted a staff member.
Police took the child into custody and transported them to the station. After consultation with juvenile probation, officers were advised that the best option was to return the child to the group home, which they did.
A Morning That Shows How Fast Things Can Spiral
Two serious calls. Two arrests. Children at the center of both scenes.
In less than half an hour, officers dealt with hostage fears, a knife threat, drug violations, and an assault on staff—a stark reminder of how quickly ordinary mornings can turn dangerous.
