Local law enforcement was on the hunt for shoplifters this weekend, though one of them helped out by dropping her ID.
Portsmouth Police went searching for a shoplifter after employees at the Family Dollar on 11th Street said a woman in black with a black backpack took several items, exited the store, and headed off toward Farly Square.
Officers caught up with the woman and detained her. They read the suspect her rights and took information for a report.
Three shoplifters hit the Kroger in Wheelersburg and tried to make off with dog food, alcohol, and laundry detergent. Employees managed to get most of the stuff back, and one of the shoplifters helpfully dropped her wallet before leaving in a green Bronco.
Officers headed to the suspect’s house for a chat, but nobody was home.
