A landlord is in big trouble after trying to rush out a tenant who didn’t pay her rent. The tenant walked into the lobby of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.
She told officers she’d informed her landlord she didn’t have money for rent and planned to move in with her parents. The landlord told her she had until the 15th of the month to pay up or get out, and when she didn’t pay, he told her she had three days to leave.
She said the man came into her residence while she was packing her belongings and shut her water off. However, at no point did he file an eviction notice in court.
Officers advised her that she did not have to leave the residence until she got an eviction notice and that deputies planned to charge her landlord with burglary and disruption of public service.
